The two most popular varieties of kiwifruit are Actinidia deliciosa (green-fleshed) and Actinidia chinensis (gold-fleshed). Aside from flesh colour, golden kiwi are softer, sweeter, less hairy and consistently fetch better prices than green varieties like Hayward.
Females are the fruiting plants. Males are non-fruiting but needed for pollination — varieties flower at different times and require a compatible male.
We offer kiwifruit with different ripening seasons to leverage marketability. For example, our South African partners favour two varieties with an early ripening season, which lets them ship to the European market before Zespri's fruit arrive.
The percentage of dry matter in the fruit. Ripe fruit is sliced, weighed and dried for 24 hours; the dry matter is compared against the earlier weight and expressed as a percentage.
Production per canopy hectare (tonnes).

SNZI's kiwifruit are unique in that we use natural breeding techniques only for all of our varieties, including our gold kiwifruit. While many companies use genetic modification, we feel pure and natural is best, both for the kiwifruit growing community and for the health of our customers.
Our NO-GMO approach gives our products a huge marketing advantage as well. With increasing international concern over GMO products, cultivation and import bans are increasing. You will never have that problem with SNZI kiwifruit.
